“I really love the fact that people exist who wear Lolita. The rare occasions when I see a Lolita on the street, without expecting it are really one of the best things. It makes me happy that people wear such beautiful clothes, no matter what other people say.”

“As much as I’d love for it to happen, there will never be a day where the lolita community will stop teasing each other, be it about brand vs. offbrand, being ‘ita’ or a ‘fatty-chan’, or hating on people who drink/do drugs/have sex in lolita. It’s just never going to happen. The lolita community is like any other community pertaining mainly of women: there are going to be bitches. Deal with it.”

“Oh gosh I love lolita, but everyone says I’m much too tall… I’m 5’8. I really love lolita, but I don’t want to be singled out because I’m the tallest one.”

“I’m one of those few lucky people who could fit perfectly into (most) brand. But I am short and of Asian descent. Before I got into lolita, shopping for clothes was difficult and I hated how I looked in anything. I blamed my body for being ugly. And short. And Asian. While I do hope brands will release more sizes, I’m just glad I finally found a fashion that I can enjoy and that getting new clothes is no longer such a huge pain.”

“I think all lolitas are gorgeous no matter what others may think.
To me it doesn’t matter what ones race/religoin/ or financial station is. Or what they look like. Tall…short…thin…fat…We are all lolitas. Female or male, we all chose to follow this style because it touched something deep inside us. For some it gives us a reason for living and others it just makes us feel pretty when we feel unattractive. No matter the reason why we are all lolitas….we are a movement…a culture….a community….a family.”

“I have been into lolita fashion for just over a year now, and my main concern was being able to afford the clothes, as I don’t get paid that much a week. Then my boyfriend surprised me by telling me that for my birthday/Christmas he is going to pay for my first co-ord. I am so happy that he supports me and loves me enough to help with my lolita dream.”

“Sometimes I like to explore “normal” peoples’ Tumblrs, and they look totally different from mine. While my dashboard is filled with petticoats, sweet prints, cute jewellery and some Doctor Who-stuff. They have jeans, black boring clothes and high heels. I really think their dashboard looks boring.”

“I learned about lolita earlier this year, and I absolutely fell in love with it. I looked at co-ords every day, tried to dress as “loli-esque” as possible with the measly workable dresses and skirts I had, and dreamed of becoming a perfect lifestyle lolita with a closet full of dresses and a beautiful, princess-y home and life. I made a wishlist of expensive items I would work towards, and built a few offbrand outfits to tide me over until then. I was OBSESSED. Then one day about a month ago, I woke up and was struck with the thought, “Lolita? What am I doing? This is not me.” For whatever reason, starting then, lolita completely lost it’s appeal. I started getting back into my previous hobbies and styles, saving money for things more important to me, not stressing over looking perfect, etc. I don’t have a problem with the fact that lolita ended up not being “my thing” (I’ve been through lots of other phases.) The only depressing part is seeing the few lolita items I did buy, and even though they didn’t cost as much as brand things, knowing I’ll never wear them again or get the money back that I spent on them…”

“I’m not going to lie— I’ve had fun trolling the lolita community on various websites throughout the time I’ve been into the fashion. Lolitas - including myself! - are literally the most overreactive, dramatic, and whiny group of people I’ve seen on the entire internet, and are therefore INCREDIBLY easy, and entertaining, to troll.”

“I have lost 10 pounds over the last year. My motivation is to be able to fit into Moitie. I’m planning on buying a OP or JSK when I get my tax return next year. I still need to lose a few centimeters from my bust to fit comfortably, but I will do whatever I have to in order to wear what I love!”
